Building a new substrate for modern computing

Our Mission

The world’s most talented engineers are drowning in complexity, spending more effort orchestrating the machinery to hold moving systems together than actually building the future. We think we have the answers.

Convergent Machines Lab is an engineering and research lab working on state as a first-class problem in computing.

The thesis is that computing fits together differently, with half of today’s machinery gone, when state receives the central treatment in computing that has historically eluded it.

EngineeringOur engineering tackles some of the most fundamental challenges of moving state from the engineering layer to the substrate underneath.

ResearchOur research works at the level of foundational computing theory to investigate and potentially address the gaps that complicate practice.

What changesIndustry-wide, state takes the path memory management took — from being an engineering concern to being a system concern. (The Convergent Machines vision.)
